Great results start with great after care.

You’re in good hands. Here is how to look after your results.

A little swelling, tenderness, and bruising in the days after treatment is completely normal and temporary. Below is everything you need to feel confident during your recovery.

What to expect

The days after your treatment is simply your body settling into it’s results. Here’s what to expect along the way:

  • Give yourself a little time to rest and recover after your treatment. Your body is doing some quiet work behind the scenes.

  • It is common to notice some redness, tenderness, soreness, bruising, numbness, and itching around the injection site. This is a normal part of healing and should settle within a few days.

  • If you’ve had a lip treatment, some swelling up to a week is completely normal and can look a little uneven along the way. Try not to worry, this is not your final result.

  • If anything lingers longer than a week give your practitioner a call. They are always happy to check in.

After Care

A few gentle guidelines to help your results settle beautifully:

  • Try not to touch the injected area for the first 6 hours. This gives the injection site time to close safely.

  • Keep the area away from extreme hot or cold. Try to avoid saunas, sunbathing, icy temperatures, and really hot drinks for the first week, or until everything is fully healed.

  • Take it easy on exercise for the first two days; your body will thank you.

  • Hold off on makeup over the treated area for at least 12 hours.

  • Had a nonsurgical rhinoplasty? Skip wearing glasses or sunglasses for at least three days so nothing is resting on the treated area.

  • If you’re taking aspirin or a similar medication you may notice a little more bruising than usual, that is normal. Please continue taking any medications prescribed by your GP, as usual.

Further treatment

Every person is different, and so is every recovery.

  • Things like your skin, lifestyle, and age all play a part in how you recover and how long your results last.

  • There’s no rush to repeat anything. Most people find a follow up every 6 to 12 months keeps that fresh, rejuvenated look going, whenever you’re ready for it.

When to seek medical care

Most side effects are mild and will settle on their own. But please seek medical attention right away if you notice any of the following:

  • Skin turning pale, mottled, blue, or white near the injection site.

  • Pain that gets worse rather than better in the hours and days following your treatment.

  • Signs of infection including increasing redness, warmth, excessive swelling, or discharge around the injection site, especially if accompanied by a fever.

  • Sudden vision changes or difficulty breathing or swallowing.

If any of these occur, contact your practitioner immediately or go to your nearest A&E or emergency department. These complications are rare and they are important to act on immediately.
